“Paper is wood.
The poet uses alphabets
to nail himself to it.”
– fr. Fragment, Alan Mumford
(Good Friday: A Mother’s Grief)
emptied in sorrow, her fair face paled
tears fall like rushing, raving river
son of hers, dead on her lap; she wailed
endeared to her as flame to wicker
this kind woodworker died on wood nailed
ensuring hope for man on this earth:
redemption from trespasses unbailed!
is worldly man worthy of His Death?
